Entertainment:
If you rent movies frequently, I would highly recommend
getting either a BlockbusterOnline or Netflix membership. These services allow you to rent movies from your home, and are often
a better deal than renting one at a time in a store. Or, if you don’t mind seeing older movies, check out your local
library’s collection of DVD’s.
If you like to go out to the movies, I would
suggest trying to go during matinee times. You can order your movie tickets online in bulk for additional savings. Dollar
theaters are also a great date night option, as they usually show movies that have recently left the mainstream theaters.
For live entertainment shows and sporting events, I recommend checking out StubHub. If you have local venues that show the types of programs you are interested
in seeing, check their website to see if they have a newsletter available. Sometimes, they will send out ‘Early Purchase’
notices, where you can reserve seats via Ticketmaster using a special code. This may or may not save you money, but at least
you will have your pick of cheap seats before the good ones are all sold out.
The
Entertainment Book, often sold during fundraising drives, is also something you may want to get.
They also offer an online version as a supplement to the book, which is updated more frequently than the print version.
If you would be interested in swapping books, movies, music, or video games, visit SwapTree. Here, you can trade these items with other users for just the cost of postage.
